The Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners (LIU) has awarded Mr. Arni Bergmann Petursson its prestigious industry Environmental Awards for 2009 for his efforts of the development and research of the ElCorrect™ technology. The Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Mr. Jon Bjarnason, presented Mr. Petursson with his award at a LIU held ceremony.

As it says in a statement from LIU; "The use of the ElCorrect™ technology on board fishing vessels has not only reduced electrical interference's and disturbances, but also resulted in up to a 10% reduction of fuel consumption and a cleaner exhaust profile. These findings have been confirmed by tests carried out in Thorbjorn hf vessels in Grindavik, who were early adopters of the technology.".

Mr. Petursson thanked the staff of Rafhonnun hf, who helped in the research and development of the ElCorrect™ technology, especially Mr. Jon Mar Halldorsson and Mr. Kristjan Valur Jonsson. He was very grateful for this industry wide recognition which in turn is a recognition for Rafhonnun hf and HBT International ehf., the manufacturers of the ElCorrect™ system.

The Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners (LIU) was founded on January 17th 1939. The founders purpose was to represent all Icelandic fishing vessel owners in one unified organization in order to safeguard their mutual interests.

The main functions of LIU are to speak on behalf of fishing vessel owners, promote progressive developments within the field of fisheries, negotiate salaries and catch premiums with the trade unions and to look out for the economic, financial, legal, technical and social interests of fishing vessel owners.
